Ideas for Plot
After looking at the different types of thriller, we came up with several different rough ideas, and we narrowed it down to two. I came up with the idea of having a person looking through a run-down shed/shack, finding a letter, and then being caught. This was based around the idea I had for the final shot, which was a point of view shot from the protagonist turning around in an enclosed space and then seeing a more powerful person standing in the doorway. We decided not to go with this.
The other idea that we had was to have a long clinical corridor with bodies. All the bodies would be in white gowns, and it would be filmed from the point of view of someone who has just woken up and has no idea what is happening. We worked on the idea from there.
After further discussion, we eventually decided on a more specific storyline, which we showed on a storyboard, which can be seen ____
Storyline
As of the 13th of January, this was the idea that we had come up with. The sequence starts by showing what appears to be a dead body underneath a cover in a hospital bed. It is alluded to that the person is dead as their face has been covered up, and their feet are the only part sticking out of the cover, as is often the case with those who have died. The man has a tag on one of their toes, which is shown in the second shot, showing the time of death. After a couple of seconds, the man's feet start twitching, showing the audience that he is not dead, and raises all sorts of questions. The third shot shows the man throwing the bed cover over the camera, and the fourth is a birds eye view that shows the man opening his eyes.
The fifth shot is from under the bed, making the audience feel like they are hiding from the man, showing him to be a threatening character. His legs swing round from the bed, and the man sits up. Whilst rubbing his eyes the man looks somewhat confused, and noticed a tube attached to his arm, which he then rips off. The seventh shot is an extreme close up of his feet as the man is standing up and starts walking. He stumbles and ends up on the floor, and a point of view shot shows him stabilising himself as he gets up.
The man then goes to a cupboard, looks around frantically and gets out some clothes. The eleventh shot is from over the shoulder, and shows the man getting his clothes on. The man stumbles towards the door and opens it. Once it is open, the lighting becomes more high key, and the man squints. Another point of view shot shows him putting his hand up above his eyes to block the light. A backwards track follows the man down the corridor, and as he walks down the back of the corridor darkens. A high angle shot shows the character looking confused.
The eighteenth shot shows drips of blood dropping, and the camera pans up to show a body on a chair, more specifically the hand with blood dripping from it. A track follows the man as he trembles backwards from the body, and the next shot shows his foot in the blood with a track sideways to see a dead man's foot, with a similar death tag to the protagonist. A close up shows the man's facial expressions. A scream is heard faintly in the distance, and a slow mo is used as the man looks around. Another shot shows the feet moving faster, and shows faint footprints being left by the blood. The screaming gets louder and begins to echo as the man walks closer to the door, and the last shot shows the man opening the door and walking in to a dark room. The titles will then show.
Upon arrival to the clinic, we found that the location was little different, and we had to accommodate for these slight changes. These changes are stated on the 'Storyboard' tab under 'Planning'. Overall, we do not feel that these changes have affected our production too badly.
We then had to start thinking about how our title sequence would look.
