Ident Planning
After researching into different idents of major film institutions, the group got together and decided upon a name for the production company and an ident. One thing we noticed after looking at the idents of other film institutions is how many of them had some sort of focus on the sky and on clouds (see the 'Research into Institutions' page under the 'Research' tab for the effects of this). We therefore felt it would be appropriate to base ours on a similar theme. Due to the dark nature of the thriller we were making, it made sense that we made the ident reflect this. To the right is the ident which was made by Thom. We decided to name our production
company 'Darksky Films', as it reflected the dark nature of our production, incorporated the sky into the name and was relevant to our ident. The font is fairly simple but the white stands out on the dark background, making the title obvious and clear. There is an orange tint at the bottom, which could signify that something is being hidden from the audience, anticipating an element of surprise.
We believe that our ident and the name for our production company are appropriate for the psychological genre of thriller and will achieve the right effect for the audience.
